Very pure materials, sapphire balls and ruby balls have good wear resistance and dimensional stability. Having superior optical transmission qualities sapphire balls and ruby balls and hemispheres are excellent for use with visible light, infrared and ultraviolet transmission and are regularly used in optical equipment.

Synthetic Sapphire Ball is 99.99% pure Al2O3 and is clear and colorless. Sapphire ball is an anistrophic crystal, hexagonal system, composed of unicrystalline alpha aluminum oxide, essentially 100% pure.

Mechanical applications for precision sapphire balls and hemispheres include: bearings, valves, pumps, flow meters, metrology instrumentation, medical devices, probes.

Optical applications for precision sapphire balls and hemispheres include: lenses, fiber optics, bar code readers, medical devices.

Ruby Balls contain a trace of chromium to produce its red color making it easier to see and handle. Defining properties include durability, hardness (measuring 9 on the Mohs scale), non-porosity, corrosion resistance and chemical resistance and high thermal conductivity.

Mechanical applications for precision ruby balls and hemispheres include: bearings, valves, pumps, flow meters, metrology instrumentation, medical devices, probes.

Optical applications for precision ruby balls and hemispheres include: lenses, fiber optics, bar code readers, medical devices.

Stainless Steel Balls

Stainless Steel Balls

Stainless steel balls for corrosive applications are a logical choice.

Stainless Steel Balls aisi 440C offer maximum uniform hardness and good corrosion resistance, stainless steel balls 440C are typically used in petroleum industry, bearing assemblies, check valves, and other applications where corrosion resistance  and maximum hardness is critical.

Stainless Steel Balls aisi 302/304 are used when conditions require the degree of non-corrosive qualities and toughness of material not available in hardenable stainless. Stainless steel balls 304 principal application is in the valve and related fields.

Stainless Steel Balls aisi 316, stainless steel balls offer excellent corrosion resistance, this austenitic steel includes 2-3% of molybdenum what improves the corrosion resistance. Stainless steel balls 316 balls are used in dispenser valves, trigger sprayers, bearings, lotion pumps, body jewelry and other applications where corrosion resistance is critical.

Ceramic Balls
Ceramic Balls

Ceramic Balls

For extremely high temperature environments or applications exposed to harsh chemicals, ceramic balls offer excellent performance characteristic. Ceramic balls provide extended life and reduced wear and may provide acceptable performance where conventional materials fail in such applications of chemical pumps and drill rods.

Silicon Nitride Balls (Si3N4) Engineered for high precision applications. A popular choice among bearing designers and other precision product applications. Silicon nitride balls are non-corrosive, anti-magnetic, and excel in low noise. Silicon nitride ball applications can be found in helicopter rotors, aircraft turbines, high speed mixers in chemical reaction vessels, machine tolling, dental drills and vacuum pumps.

Zirconia Balls (ZrO2) A high strength material that performs well in temperatures up to 1000°F (538°C). Operates well in environments such as molten metals, organic solvents, caustics and most acids. Because of its good resistance to abrasion and corrosion, it is often used as check valves for flow control.

Alumina Oxide (Al2O3) Standard 99.5% alumina oxide ceramic balls have proven performance in wear, heat and corrosive environment s as well as in maintaining dimensional stability at high temperatures. Alumina oxide balls resists oxidation and is tolerant to water, salt solutions, and many chemical acids.

Stellite Balls or cobalt alloy balls, have toughness, corrosion and abrasive resistance in high temperatures, stellite balls are used in check valves in petroleum industry and related fields.

Tantalum Balls Tantalum is a rare metal, highly corrosion-resistant, the chemical inertness of tantalum makes it a valuable substance for laboratory equipment, and as a substitute for platinum. Tantalum balls are widely used in medical and industrial applications

Titanium Balls 6AL4V ELI balls are the strongest of all the titanium alloys thanks to its higher aluminum and vanadium content. Titanium balls offer a versatile mix of good corrosion resistance, weldability, and formability. Titanium balls are widely used in medical and industrial applications.

Monel Balls K-Monel balls offer excellent corrosion resistance to mineral and organic acids, alkalies, salts, including chlorides. Further K-Monel balls offer the advantage of being non magnetic to minus 150°F.

Inconel Balls are available in various nickel base types. Inconel balls offer resistance to chemical corrosion and oxidation, retention of properties at elevated temperatures. Inconel balls are used in check valves in harsh environments, oil & gas and chemical processing and pollution control applications. Inconel balls are also used in the stud welding as fasteners in aerospace industry.

Aluminum Balls are widely used as bearings and in valves, aluminum balls are durable and lightweight. 2017-T4 Aluminum balls are used in automotive and aircraft applications, where durability, hardness & weight are factors. 1100 H16 Aluminum balls are primarily used in the Stud Welding Industry as fasteners.

Copper Balls with 99.99% purity maintain extreme softness, 102 copper balls have higher purity than 110 copper balls, resulting in superior electrical conductivity. It’s commonly called OFE and OFHC copper. Copper balls are used in electrical applications

Hastelloy Balls are available in various nickel molybdenum chromium alloy base types. Hastelloy balls offer excellent resistance to chemical corrosion and oxidation, retention of properties at elevated temperatures.
