Copper Balls in C10200 and C11000
REDHILL supplies copper balls for electrical contacts, instruments and selected valve systems. Both grades conduct electricity and heat well. In addition, they offer good formability and non-magnetic properties.
Copper Balls 102 (C10200) – Oxygen-Free Copper
C10200 is oxygen-free copper, also known as OF copper. Its low oxygen content helps prevent hydrogen embrittlement during hot processing. As a result, engineers choose it for parts that need heating or joining in atmospheres that contain hydrogen. In addition, the material offers good soldering and brazing properties.
Key Material Data
- Copper content: At least 99.95%, including silver.
- Oxygen content: No more than 0.0010% (10 ppm).
- Density: Approximately 8.9 g/cm³.
- Electrical conductivity: Minimum 100% IACS at 20°C in the annealed condition.
- Magnetic properties: Non-magnetic.
Copper Balls 110 (C11000) – Electrolytic Tough Pitch Copper
C11000, or ETP copper, contains a small amount of oxygen. It combines high conductivity with good formability. For example, manufacturers use this grade in electrical contacts, conductors and terminals.
However, heating C11000 in an atmosphere that contains hydrogen can cause embrittlement. Therefore, choose the grade to match your brazing or heat treatment process.
Key Material Data
- Copper content: At least 99.90%, including silver.
- Material type: Oxygen-bearing, electrolytic tough pitch copper.
- Density: Approximately 8.9 g/cm³.
- Electrical conductivity: Minimum 100% IACS at 20°C in the annealed condition.
- Magnetic properties: Non-magnetic.
Temper and Material Selection
Cold working increases hardness and strength. However, it also reduces ductility and can lower conductivity. Therefore, specify the required temper: annealed, half-hard (H02) or hard (H04).
Both grades resist corrosion in many fresh water and mild atmospheric conditions. However, fluid chemistry, temperature and flow rate affect their suitability for valves and pumps.
Applications of Copper Balls
- Electrical equipment: For example, copper balls serve in contact and connector designs.
- Electroplating: Copper balls also serve in galvanic processes.
- Valves and dosing devices: Selected designs use copper check balls where the fluid and contact load suit the material.
Grades and Sizes
See our precision grade guide for ball tolerances. In addition, ask us about metric, inch and custom diameters. We confirm the available grade, size and material condition for each order.
Finally, send us your ball diameter, quantity, copper grade and working conditions. Include any specific hardness or conductivity requirement with your inquiry.
