Inconel Balls for Valves, Pumps and Hot Gas Systems

REDHILL supplies Inconel balls for chemical plants, marine equipment and systems that face high heat. Each grade offers a different balance of strength and corrosion resistance. Therefore, match the alloy and heat treatment to the fluid, load and working temperature.

Inconel 625 Balls

Inconel 625 resists corrosion in many acids, salt solutions and seawater. In addition, it resists pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in chloride solutions. As a result, engineers consider it for valves and pumps where both strength and chemical resistance matter.

Molybdenum and niobium strengthen its nickel-chromium base. Therefore, 625 does not need age hardening to gain its basic strength. However, cold working and heat treatment still affect its final properties.

Key Material Data

  • UNS designation: N06625
  • Main composition limits by weight: Ni ≥58%; Cr 20–23%; Mo 8–10%; Nb + Ta 3.15–4.15%; Fe ≤5%
  • Typical density: 8.44 g/cm³

Applications

For example, possible uses include:

  • Check balls and seats in chemical valves
  • Metering and dosing pumps
  • Marine and offshore flow controls
  • Valve parts for energy systems

However, chemical resistance depends on the full fluid mix and temperature. Therefore, check the actual service conditions when selecting this grade.

Inconel X-750 Balls

Inconel X-750 combines strength at high temperatures with resistance to oxidation. Controlled heat treatment raises its strength through age hardening. In addition, the right treatment helps resist creep, or slow changes in shape under a steady load.

As a result, engineers consider X-750 for parts that face heat and sustained loads. However, strength and creep resistance depend on the heat treatment and time in service. Therefore, specify the material condition to match the task.

Key Material Data

  • UNS designation: N07750
  • Main composition limits by weight: Ni + Co ≥70%; Cr 14–17%; Fe 5–9%
  • Strengthening elements by weight: Ti 2.25–2.75%; Nb + Ta 0.70–1.20%; Al 0.40–1.00%
  • Typical density: 8.28 g/cm³

Applications

For example, possible ball applications include:

  • Valves that control hot gas flow
  • Flow controls in furnace systems
  • Instrument valves that face high heat
  • Auxiliary mechanisms in aircraft and turbine equipment

In addition, assess the mating parts, contact load and surface finish when choosing balls for these systems.

Ball Grades, Sizes and Ordering

REDHILL offers metric and inch ball sizes. In addition, ask us about custom diameters. For guidance on size and form tolerances, see our precision ball grades.

Both alloys have a low response to magnetic fields at room temperature. However, hardness and strength depend on the final material condition. Therefore, include any required mechanical or magnetic properties with your inquiry.

Finally, send us the alloy, diameter, quantity and working conditions so we can review your requirements.
