PTFE Balls for Chemical Valves and Dosing Systems
REDHILL supplies PTFE balls for check valves, pumps and dosing systems. PTFE combines very low friction with broad chemical resistance. As a result, it suits moving and sealing parts in compatible fluids.
Key Technical Specifications
The following values give a guide for virgin, unfilled PTFE.
- Material: Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).
- Structure: Semi-crystalline fluoropolymer.
- Hardness: Approximately 54–60 Shore D.
- Density: Approximately 2.17 g/cm³.
- Material Temperature Range: Approximately −200 to +260°C.
- Electrical and Magnetic Properties: Virgin PTFE provides electrical insulation and shows no magnetic response.
However, the ball’s working limits depend on pressure, load and design. Therefore, confirm the temperature range for your application.
Benefits of PTFE Balls
PTFE resists many acids, alkalis and solvents. In addition, its non-stick surface helps limit material buildup.
However, PTFE can slowly deform under a steady load, a process called creep. Therefore, match the ball size and grade to the contact pressure.
Virgin and Filled PTFE
Glass, carbon or bronze fillers can improve wear resistance or reduce creep. However, fillers also change density, chemical resistance and electrical properties. Therefore, confirm the specific compound before ordering.
Applications of PTFE Balls
- Chemical Valves and Pumps: Check balls for compatible fluids.
- Dosing and Metering: Flow control parts for process systems.
- Laboratory Equipment: Balls for fluid handling and measuring devices.
- Low-Load Bearings: Moving elements for suitable contact and lubrication conditions.
Available Sizes and Precision Requirements
- Precision Classes: GI, GII and GIII, subject to agreed diameter and roundness limits.
- Diameter Range: 1/16 in–4 in (approximately 1.59–101.6 mm).
Finally, send us your diameter, tolerance and quantity. Also, include the fluid, pressure and temperature so we can confirm a suitable grade.
