Polyvinyl Chloride Balls (PVC) for Valves and Fluid Handling
REDHILL supplies polyvinyl chloride balls for valves, dosing systems and light mechanical guides. PVC offers a useful balance of stiffness, chemical resistance and low weight. As a result, it suits selected water and process-fluid applications.
Key Technical Specifications
The following values give a guide for selected rigid PVC grades.
- Material: Unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U or uPVC).
- Structure: Amorphous thermoplastic.
- Hardness: Approximately 80 Shore D.
- Density: Approximately 1.45 g/cm³.
- Typical Material Temperature Guide: 0 to +60°C.
- Electrical Properties: Standard rigid grades provide electrical insulation.
However, heat and load affect the working limits. Therefore, confirm the selected grade against your pressure and temperature range.
Rigid and Flexible PVC Options
Rigid PVC provides stiffness for guides and valve parts. In contrast, plasticized PVC offers a softer contact. However, additives change the material properties, so confirm hardness and density for flexible grades.
Benefits of PVC Balls
PVC does not rust and resists many aqueous acids, alkalis and salt solutions. In addition, low water absorption helps limit changes from moisture.
Rigid PVC combines stiffness with lower weight than steel. As a result, it offers an option for lightly loaded guides and moving parts.
Applications of Polyvinyl Chloride Balls
- Check Valves and Dosing Systems: Balls for compatible fluids.
- Pumps and Flow Indicators: Components for selected fluid handling tasks.
- Light Guides and Rolling Mechanisms: Moving elements under modest loads.
- Water Treatment Equipment: Parts for suitable water and chemical service.
However, chemical resistance depends on the fluid, concentration and temperature. Therefore, check compatibility under the actual working conditions.
Available Sizes and Precision Requirements
- Precision Classes: GI, GII and GIII, subject to agreed dimensions and inspection conditions.
- Diameter Range: 1/16 in–4 in (approximately 1.59–101.6 mm).
Finally, send us your diameter, tolerance, color and quantity. Also, include the fluid, load and temperature so we can confirm a suitable PVC compound.
